چکیده
In this paper, we outline the overview of problem intraplate seismicity and summarize our studies aimed at identifying potential earthquake sources in three regions located continental environments. We study French Massif Central situated within West-European platform, Gujarat area northwestern edge Indian shield, northeast Egypt northeastern part African continent. These exhibit different levels seismic activity. The reveals lowest rate seismicity, exposes a low-to-moderate moderate with rare occurrence strong events. use phenomenological approach for possible locations earthquakes, which is based on pattern recognition applied to morphostructural data. hypothesizes nucleation earthquakes nodes forming intersections lineaments, are delineated by zoning. Acoustic Clutter in Continental Shelf Environments
Acoustic clutter is the primary problem encountered by active sonar systems operating in Continental Shelf environments. Clutter is defined as any returns from the environment that stand prominently above the diffuse and temporally decaying reverberation background and so can be confused with or camouflage returns from an intended target such as an underwater vehicle. Many environmental factors...
متن کاملSynthetic extreme environments: overlooked sources of potential biotechnologically relevant microorganisms
Synthetic extreme environments like carwash effluent tanks and drains are potential sources of biotechnologically important microorganisms and molecules which have, however, remained unexplored. Using culture- and molecular-based methods, a total of 17 bacterial isolates belonging to the genera Shewanella, Proteus, Paenibacillus, Enterobacter and Citrobacter, Aeromonas, Pseudomonas and Pantoea ...
متن کاملOceanic and Terrestrial Sources of Continental Precipitation
[1] The most important sources of atmospheric moisture at the global scale are herein identified, both oceanic and terrestrial, and a characterization is made of how continental regions are influenced by water from different moisture source regions. The methods used to establish source-sink relationships of atmospheric water vapor are reviewed, and the advantages and caveats associated with eac...
متن کاملIsotopic Reconstruction of past Continental Environments
Vertebrate fossils and continental sediments provide a rich record of variations in the isotopic composition of surface environments. To interpret these records, a greater understanding of isotopic sources, as well as fractionations associated with animal physiology, soil geochemistry, and diagenesis, has been essential. Tooth enamel and fish otoliths yield subannual records of surface environm...
متن کاملPotential of observations from the Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer to constrain continental sources of carbon monoxide
[1] We have conducted an observing system simulation experiment for the Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer (TES) satellite instrument to determine the potential of nadir retrievals of carbon monoxide (CO) from this instrument to constrain estimates of continental sources of CO. We use the GEOS-CHEM global chemical transport model to produce a pseudoatmosphere in which the relationship between s...
